Inside the frame, the underside of a pier opens as the central world of the piece, tall rusted wooden pillars receding in perspective toward a bright opening at the far end where blue ocean and sky are visible and waves crash through. Two Black figures rendered in black and white sit at the heart of that space. One figure sits upright, leaning forward, tending to the hair of the second figure who rests their head in the first figure's lap in a posture of complete rest and trust. The reading relayed to rest, get still, and trust what is already here. The call is to get grounded, to go beneath the surface of the choices and the busyness, to remember the power of one’s voice and creativity and the deepen one’s relationship with the water and the imaginative. The alchemical work is already done, forgiveness of self and others is the final threshold, and the spiritual gold being worked toward is ready to embody and radiate outward.
