A great rainbow snake patterned in flowers moves through the center of the piece in a loose swirl, its body beginning to come apart as it sheds, a dark shadow self held at its core. Golden thread weaves through everything in the pattern of a web, spider medicine made visible. Tori sits gathered into herself at the edge of the piece, butterfly wings at her back, resting in stillness. Water breaks at the base of the composition. Bare branches reach inward from every border. Runes are placed at the thresholds. Van Gogh's almond blossoms press in from one corner and living green foliage from another, the historical and the present-day natural world both present in the same frame.
